The Short Answer
Pilot 111 Fishing Park sits in Bangkok's suburban ring—close enough to feel like a city venue, far enough to feel like proper countryside fishing. From most central Bangkok hotels, you're looking at 30 to 60 minutes by Grab depending on where you start and when you leave. There's no practical rail connection directly to the venue, but the Grab journey is uncomplicated and affordable by international standards.
Getting There by Grab
Grab is the default recommendation for solo anglers and small groups reaching Pilot 111. Open the app, type the venue name, check the fare estimate, and book. The app handles the route; the driver handles the traffic. Bangkok's expressway network reaches well into the suburban zones where Pilot 111 sits, keeping journey times manageable even from the western side of the city.
A few practical tips for the Grab journey:
Save the venue name in Thai. Not every Bangkok driver reads English fluently, and fishing park names often don't appear prominently in mapping apps. Screenshot the Thai venue name and show your driver at the start to prevent mid-journey confusion.
Book via GrabCar, not GrabBike. You're going to have at minimum a rod tube, tackle bag, and possibly a landing net. A motorcycle taxi is not the vehicle for this journey.
Check fare before accepting. Bangkok Grab fares vary significantly with surge pricing during rush hours. The 7am to 9am window—exactly when many anglers want to reach a venue—can see elevated fares. Leaving at 6am or waiting until 9:30am often gives a better price and smoother drive.
Pilot 111 sits outside the main tourist areas of Bangkok, which means Grab driver familiarity varies. If the app shows the correct location on the map, you're fine. If it looks off, double-check with the venue's contact details before booking.
Getting There from Suvarnabhumi Airport
Suvarnabhumi Airport is on Bangkok's eastern side, and depending on Pilot 111's exact location relative to your route, you may be able to reach it without passing through central Bangkok at all. A Grab from Suvarnabhumi stays on the expressway network and cuts across the suburban ring road.
Estimated journey time from Suvarnabhumi: 30 to 50 minutes under reasonable conditions. This makes an airport-to-venue run feasible for anglers arriving on an early flight and wanting to make the most of the day.
Getting There from Don Mueang Airport
Don Mueang is Bangkok's northern airport. Journey time to Pilot 111 from Don Mueang depends on the relative positions, but generally falls in the 25 to 45 minute range, often shorter than the Suvarnabhumi journey.
Budget airline travellers landing at Don Mueang—particularly those connecting from provincial Thai cities—are well-placed for suburban Bangkok fishing venues north and east of the city.
Getting There from the City by Taxi
Metered taxis are abundant in central Bangkok and work fine for this journey. Insist on the meter—it will always be switched on properly at a reputable rank. Expressway tolls are paid by the passenger; keep small denomination bills ready for toll booths.
Taxis and Grab are roughly equivalent for most Bangkok suburb runs. The practical advantage of Grab is upfront pricing and driver accountability through the app.
The suburban Bangkok fishing belt—Pilot 111, Bungsamran, and a handful of specialist venues—gives visiting anglers world-class freshwater fishing within a taxi ride of the Sukhumvit hotel strip. That's a genuinely rare thing.
Common Pitfalls
Hitting Bangkok traffic on the way out. If your hotel is in central Bangkok and you want to be fishing at 7am, you need to leave considerably earlier than feels intuitive. The expressways move well in the early hours; surface streets in the suburbs can slow things down.
Returning at peak hour. Sessions that end mid-afternoon put you in the car during one of Bangkok's heaviest traffic periods. Either plan to leave the venue before 3pm or after 7pm, or accept a slower return.
Arriving without cash. Many suburban Thai fishing parks prefer cash for sessions, equipment hire, and food. ATMs are not always nearby. Bring sufficient baht from your hotel or an airport ATM.
Arrival
The venue staff at Pilot 111 will allocate your swim, cover session fees, and explain current rules and stocking. Equipment hire is available, which makes this a realistic destination even for anglers travelling light. The lake is known for quality stocking and a well-maintained environment—not a rough-and-ready country pond.
